Meet Doug! He is a great little poodle/Sheep dog/Bischon/Basset mix or so we think!
Doug is your typical abandoned, stray dog. He was found in the streets with a FULL coat of hair that was fairly matted under his belly, legs and tail hence the short summer look. Doug is a fully grown, young adult at 20 pounds who was neutered in early May and has been in a foster home since then. He currently shares his temporary home with other foster dogs and cats. At first he was a bit vocal especially when left alone but now but he has now caught onto the 'routine' and is a very relaxed, quiet little guy.
He does well on car rides, walks OK on the leash, is crate trained and will do very well in a home setting with a family with children or maybe someone who has another dog. Doug is actually on the submissive side in a sense that never starts fights nor does he annoy others dogs. He will however play with the younger group if they entice him to join in the fun.
Doug is VERY much a people friendly dog and would enjoy nothing else then being surrounded by a person. Doug like many other dogs would LOVE a family with someone who might be home often i.e. work from home/retired. He is always happy and full of life. We know he will have a FANTASTIC looking curly coat when it grows back in. We also think he could have some Basset in him because of his slightly longer body and slightly shorter strong legs. We have our speculations, but we may be wrong , all we know is he is a great companion and would make someone very happy!
Also, this little potentially shaggy guy was groomed early May and the pictures were updated the first week of June, so, as you can see in a month the coat hasn't grown too fast which means grooming requirements wise he may need to go to the groomer for a hair cut (if the shorter look is what potential adopter would go for) every 3-4 months.
P.S. His foster mom would like potential adopters to know even though Doug's hair coat looks 'off white,' (due to lack of time in giving him a bath) he truly has a pearly white coat!
