|
Tessa is a 4 1/2 month old GSD/Lab mix. Both her and her siblings were born in Mexico to an unspayed female dog. Now, her mother has been sterilized and adopted, so her little children are still looking for homes.
Tessa is a cute little puppy and will definitely grow to be a very gorgeous dog. She's not an extremely active puppy, but she's still medium-energy in a sense that she will romp, play and run about the house or with other dogs, but will relax with her person if they aren't doing anything. She does well with other dogs and gets along fabulously with her foster sister, however, she can be uncertain when encountering some dogs, for instance, at dog park, Tessa can be somewhat hesitant around highly energetic dogs. She will enjoy the company of more calm dogs and even is curious as to approach a dog to sniff them. She is not aggressive whatsoever and just needs to build her confidence in and around the company of different dogs. Since she's not as rambunctious as other puppies, she will likely do well with children who are knowledgeable about dogs. As she is very relaxed, she will also do well around cats and she doesn't have a prey drive either.
She's somewhat shy and timid so certain things such as loud noises, sudden movements, etc. startle her. Because she is timid, barking dogs that she passes by during her walks can potentially frighten her to the point where she may freeze and shut down, but she is gaining more confidence everyday, so she will pass by, but in a very frightened way. She's generally okay on the leash as she may pull, but pays attention to you if you are giving her directions. Although she maybe a little timid, she's actually not that shy with people and will generally approach them with a friendly, low tail wag. She is a sweet-heart and certainly does like to cuddle. She'll even roll over onto her back for a good belly scratch - she loves to be rubbed! Tessa is not a huge jumper, but if she does jump up, she immediately gets down as soon as she's told to. She also likes car rides - she may be a little hesitant about jumping into the car if it's too high, but she a good little girl when the car is in motion and calmly sits in the back, gazing out the window. She's not much of a barker and has a very soft voice if she does, but she usually only barks if she's unsure about something.
Tessa is very good in the house and rather well-behaved. She maybe a pup, but she doesn't chew on anything she shouldn't and would much rather grab her rawhide bone or stuffed toy to chew on. She's not potty-trained yet, but she's a pup and will need frequent breaks outside. Right now, she's getting more accustomed to her foster home's backyard and still choosing where she wants to "go.". Other than some accidents, as mentioned, Tessa does well in the home - she's quick to get off counters if she does go up, she doesn't really jump onto furniture, and she is crate-trained so she will rest in it when nothing's going on. She knows how to "sit" and "lie down" as well. Her foster mom is helping her perfect these commands and thinks she's the most intelligent and attentive puppy there is.
