Sally is a 10 month old German Shepherd mix. She is playful, energetic, loving and very smart!
As of 8/10/10 she is 39 pounds and about 10 months old. She is long and has very strong German Shepherd characteristics, however, she is smaller than your average GS for a dog her age. We don't believe she will be bigger than 50-60 pounds when full grown. In some pictures she looks fairly big, but really she just has long ears and long legs.
She is GREAT around cats, children and dogs. However, we haven't been able to work completely on her GS barking at new strangers. For example, she will bark a couple of times at stranger coming into the house or maybe if we are at an adoption event she will bark at the dogs entering the store. With a quick correction, she will calm right down though.
She is not as highly energetic as one would think this breed would be. Sally rests and is very calm and mellow around the house but she will certainly play in the backyard off and on with the other dogs. She loves to play with any dog age, size as long as they want to play.
She is not a big barker, unless something is happening then she will certainly let you know. She also loves to 'hoard' her toys. She randomly takes her dog toys, as well as some cat toys and whatever she may find on the floor to "her" bed, a cot outside, so everyday there are random things on that bed and she is laying on top of it as if she is the princess and her subjects are bearing her gifts. She is a huge LOVER and loves to be loved, enjoys car rides and has the capacity to learn very quickly, unfortunately her current foster mom works full time and has other foster dogs to care for.
Essentially in new situations Sally can be a little standoffish, yet she is very submissive.
