This beautiful sweetheart is ready for adoption NOW!
A little back story. She was relinquished by a family who had her since she was born. We know she is 2yr old and as of 5/22 she is 42 pounds. Slightly underweight still as she was nursing her litter of 7 pups as of early May. This was Hannah's second litter and the conditions in which she lived as a yard dog were less than ideal. We wish we could have taken all the dogs of the home but were unable to do so. ARWOB was able to help transport all the pets in the home to and from the veterinary clinic to get them all sterilized so they don't continue to reproduce and were able to take mom and her 1 month old babies into the rescue. Hannah and her 7 pups were rescued 4/1/23 and according to the owner the pups born on 2/15/23. As of 5/22 Hannah and one of her pups 'peter" are still available for adoption and do not need to be adopted together but in case you are looking for two friends, they would be a great match. You can read more about Peter by visiting his biography.
Hannah is an amazing dog and an excellent mama!
She is already full grown and once she gains weight probably reach 45 pounds. She is knee-high so a very petite pit bull mix. She is currently fostered in the east county by a foster family which consists of 2 adults, 2 children (boys in the 8-10yr range) and 2 large breed dogs. Hannah is fostered in a home with a large yard and is pool savvy meaning she knows how to navigate around the pool. She is house and crate trained. She rides well in cars and excellent copilot. Her foster family has taken her to several camping and RV trips and does great off leash staying with them and mingling around the humans and other dogs. She has no formal training so a family who will also enroll in dog training just means she will be THE best dog in town! Her beautiful demeanor plus 101 basic dog training can only ensure she continues to be the very best.
Hannah is happy to play with the dogs but is also a huge cuddler and likes to 'chill'
We think she would be a wonderful dog for first time dog owner and of course any family from a single working adult in apartment setting to a large family with children in a home or even retirees as long as she has people to love her and walk her and keep her entertained and happy.
Sometimes she reminds me of Eeyore character from Winnie the pooh with her sad facial looks and stocky little body. She is great with dogs on and off leash and was exposed briefly to cats to which she did not show any aggression or interest and was mostly scared of the meowing monsters. A home with cats is welcome to foster to adopt trial to make sure long term she would be safe for the resident kitties.
