UPDATE 4-16-21: Duchess and Marie our on a foster-to-adopt trial for 1-2 weeks. You are welcome to check back for their status, but they seem to have found their forever home.
"The girls have pretty much adapted to the space. They're quite independent and have claimed their own spots around the apartment. Both walk around confidently and greet us affectionately. They talk to us when they know it's their mealtime. We're still working on their confidence, but overall, they seem quite comfortable in their surroundings and are quite attached to us.
We did a 10-minute bunny introduction on both the 2nd and 3rd day after playing and eating sessions. Girls looked at the bunny. Sniffed at her, then walked around exploring the rest of the office. We will continue doing these brief, supervised introductions every day.
Both girls are eating well, have high energy, and maintain curiosity."
ORIGINAL STORY:
Duchess, Marie and Toulouse were owner relinquished in Mid February.
Their owner has their mama cat who sadly wasn't spayed and was an indoor/outdoor cat who had kittens. The owner was asking for help with the "kittens" with the local veterinarian who sought help from us. The kittens are of course now "older" at 8-10mo of age and now no longer wanted. We agreed to take them if we got the mama spayed and now we have 3 gorgeous siblings seeking families. They don't need to be adopted together although the two sisters are always around each other and seek each other out. The boy hasn't bonded with the girls.
They are all a little shy, especially when going to the vet or any stress like new people or homes, or traveling, but in a normal environment without stress, they will seek attention, although always keeing an eye on their surroundings.
These teens have completed their medicals and Duchess and Marie are currently in our cat adoption center at the PetSmart in Clairemont. They have been warming up to our volunteers. Although Marie is still more shy, our volunteer shared that
Dutchess is a real love bug and she sat in her lap and loved getting petted. Purred up a storm!! Quick movements do startle her, though, but she becomes more and more comfortable with time.
She and Marie are the best of friends, as well as siblings, and enjoy spending time together during playtime.
If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application online at arwob.org
