Tigre is urgently looking for a foster or foster to adopt.
Tigre lived on the streets of Tijuana as part of a cat colony of 6 who were fed by their "person". When she moved out of state, she had to leave the cats behind, but they were not truly feral and not great hunters just outside community cats. They were in a bad part of town where there were too many large dogs and busy roads. We were able to get all cats into adoption but Tigre, who is the last one standing.
Sadly, he is terrified and is used to being an outside cat. He now has been inside in a kennel boarding and what we have noticed is that he has never once hissed, swatted, growled or bitten. He used to be able to bolt out of the kennel and run frantically around the house looking for an exit. Tigre is easily picked up, and we have realized he is just terrified of people.
Now that he has been getting used to people, he is much more relaxed and, when he comes out of his kennel, he does a quick run and comes right back to his kennel. We would LOVE a foster who can actually provide a room where he can be out of the kennel setting where he can move around and enjoy and learn what a cat's indoor life is like and NOT a cage life.
In the cage, he is always in the back corner. You can bring him up close and he allows you to pet him; he is starting to enjoy his chin and belly rubbed but he doesn't really seek the attention or relax completely however, this is liekly because he is stressed and unable to enjoy life stuck in a kennel. Sadly, we habe too many sick kitties in the home he is in right now and can't have the ability to run around the home to keep him away from the sickly cats and we need to find a home who fee comfortable with a cat who needs lots of help. Thankfully he is no longer hard to approach when he runs around the home then again on a new environment ei house/new people he may again close down and get uncomfortable OR he will thrive and start to come around.
The foster or adopter will need a very secured home setting so he isn't able to exit their home or windows. We will update his bio if we can find a foster for him.
please submit an application to adopt @arwob.org
