Meet Chloe!

UPDATE 04/19/2020
Chloe has been fostered in a home with a single adult since the begining of the month and has been able to be house trained and enjoys her daily 4mile walk a day.

We prefer adopters for Chloe who own a home vs renting an apartment because of her energy level and breed (ei potential for pitty mix)

We would be happy to do a meet and greet and potential adoption OR a foster to adopt trial for 2 weeks. WHY?
Because she is a young dog who could use a foster/adopter with dog handling experience meaning someone who can help train for things like leash walking, focus and just normal dog training. Her current foster mom is loving her company and loving her but she is not really being socialized with dogs and people because of social distancing which means she would benefit from a foster/adopter with another dog or foster with experience training dogs.

Chloe could have a little leash reactivity which can be easily corrected and we know she is very dog friendly BUT can sometimes be reactive to SOME on the leash when approaching to say hi. Her current foster mom has the following write up to explain more about Chloe and if you'd like to FOSTER or Foster to Adopt or just ADOPT please make sure you read the whole biography to know she is a GREAT LOVING DOG who will ABSOLUTELY NEED training and a handler who believes in structure and can meet her energy needs.

FOSTER WRITE UP AS OF 4/20/20:

In the house,  the first day I had her, she had two accidents in the house.. so then I started a routine of taking her out first thing in the morning and at night before she goes to bed. I also watched her very carefully the next few days and would not allow her to go in another room without me .  Never had another accident since. So she is house trained, but if she goes somewhere new...I would suggest a routine and close observation for the first week  She is a chewer and needs a variety of things to chew on.  Even with a big selection, she will choose to chew on shoes, shoelaces and small decorative pillows if they are left out  . She is eating very well 1 cup morning and 1 at night.

On leash, We walk twice a day for an average of 4 miles a day,  She rarely pulls but is very easily distracted by scents and tries to stop often. Overall she is a good walker on the leash, when she does stop to investigate something I just give her a slight tug and she continues on most of the time.  Unfortunately, due to the COVID 19 guidelines she has not  had the  opportunity to interact with other dogs.  When we are walking and there is a dog in sight, up ahead or on the other side of the street,  she definitely  takes notice but most of the time continues to  walk..However if the other dog starts barking and pulling, then Chloe does too.

Again, due to COVID 19 guidelines she has not had any close interaction with people while she is on leash.  But generally, she does not bark or pull when she sees people... unless they have a dog who is barking. Cyclists, skateboarders, runners, walkers... don't seem to bother her.  My neighbors have a 6 year old daughter, and Chloe is very sweet with her and her Mom... although she does like to jump .  I'm working on her jumping on me and others.  Not solved but getting better.

She is very affectionate and loving.. A little too licky face...but she really is a very sweet dog. in the house she wants to be near me all the time.   As I mentioned, she has a lot of energy and loves her long walks .  She is sleeping well at night.  No issues ther

ORIGINAL INFORMATION FROM 03/2020:

Chloe was rescued from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico in February 2020 as a very thin dog who was scavanging the streets searching and roaming to find food. She was spotted by a volunteer when she noticed Chloe was being chased off by another dog from the trash bin she was finding her food from. The volunteer picked her up from the streets and took her home into rescue. After a couple of weeks of no response to social media about 'found dog' or the locals where she found, It's safe to say no one was looking or interested in finding this poor sweet pup/teen.

She has an amazing social, loving personality and can be 'wary'/ observant at first when she is meeting new dogs or people, but responds very easily to soft talk and kindness. She lights up the whole room when she starts moving those amazing Latina hips!! Careful, that wagging tail can be dangerous! ha ha!

She was tested with cats with no issues, is great with dogs, but a little standoffish when she first meets a couple of them. She is crate trained and does well in the car. Like all med/large breeds, she would be an excellent exercise partner. She looks a bit like  a retriever/ collie/pit mix with a very small body frame (compared to the bully breeds so she doesn't really look like one)

TO ADOPT OR FOSTER TO ADOPT CHLOE = Submit a dog adoption application and mention on the comments you'd like to foster her first.
Ideal candidates have a home with yard or excellent way to meet her energy needs and experience with dog training, someone who will be a leader.
