chip and Dale came to arwob from the same indie rescuer who took them in. She was overwhelmed with dogs and not able to care for them. Arwob offered to take several dogs to help get them the medical care and opportunity they deserved and these two seemed to have bonded during their interim stay with her. chip was someone's dog who was being rehomed by a family in TJ through FB page unaltered and just to anyone who would take him. He made it to the indie rescuer and although well socialized with people and dogs and just a happy soul who is an active little guy and loves to jump so puppy training is a must for this smart funny and so loving guy. Now, Dale is a little smaller in size and looks like a whippet poodle terrier mix under 20lbs and a very gentle soul who is scared of people and is attached to chip. He sees Chip as his safety balanket and trusts him and follows his lead. Which is great because chip loves to have puppy companions. Chip is much more energetic likely because he is younger than Dale. But the play energy is just the righ level in case a family would be happy to have two friends in the home. From experience we believe Dale will come around and slowly (slowly weeks to months, not days) will learn to trust his new family. He needs to see humans are good because he was rescued from the streets of Tijuana where he likely encountered a lot of people who didn't show him any compassion or had a good experience with them trying to survive. He is gentle and alThough difficult to approach ei he will run around but if you have chip he will come to you for chip. Which means leash on him for a couple of weeks so he can trust you and learn stability. From experience these dogs blossom within couple of months and become funny loving greatful little guys whom you end up loving and being proud to have offered them a home when no one else would.
the boys do not need to be adopted together but we will try our best to have them go home together if not please check back wth us about chip status around 12/15. We don't want to prevent chip having an amazing home but we want to give the boys an opportunity at staying together.
Also, perhaps the adopters for chip if not able or interested in adopting a second pup maybe could foster Dale through the holidays to help him open up in a home environment to get to learn more about him and see if he flurishes and could be adopted on his own when his right adopter comes along. Perhaps both boys have a great home that will adopt each but until we find the home for Dale maybe the boys can stay together for a little while longer. Talk to us if any questions Thanks
