Sweet Chubbs is a very sweet and loving dog who is the perfect compact size dog!
Chubbs had been living with a family who kept her chained in the small back patio living in squalor. Since ARWOB rescued her, she has been living with the same foster mom since May 2017. She has proven to be a wonderful dog that is super easy to foster and have in the home. She could benefit from some dog training (i.e. sit, stay, etc), but she is fantastic in the house and enjoys her crate as well. Sometimes she sleeps outside of her create in the bedroom in a dog bed.
Chubbs loves to be active, but can also just be a total couch potato. She adores attention, playing with toys, and just enjoying life. This girl would be a great family dog and does well with MOST easy going dogs. However, she does not do well with cats and will need to be in a home WITHOUT cats. NO little pocket pets, as she has a high prey drive and would be an excellent rodent control dog (Eek!). Chubbs likes most dogs, but if she encounters a strong alpha personality dog who wants to boss her around, that would not be a good match for her; she is also an "alpha bossy" personality. She does very well with easy going, playful dogs or even active "in your face" dogs/puppies who aren't trying to establish dominance. Chubb absolutely LOVES children and would make a great family companion. She does well in the car and has no anxiety whatsoever about car rides. She is not a big barker, but is a great alert guard dog. A home with a yard or even an apartment home would work well for her.
Chubbs is a very quiet dog and walks fairly well on the leash. She is not a big puller, but her handler needs to be able to hold on to the leash because she is a strong dog IF she wanted to pull. She has stayed in an apartment for a couple of weeks in January, 2018, and was THE perfect apartment dog! She is NOT a dog park dog because of the many dog personalities encountered there, but she is a GREAT hiking trail and walking partner dog.
Chubbs does not suffer from separation anxiety, so she would be perfect for a family who is a first time dog owner (with NO other pets), and also for a working individual who is gone long hours in the day and likes to be active when they get home. She does not have leash reactivity and can enjoy attending coffee shops and other places that are dog friendly. Chubbs is truly amazing and you will not know just how much until you have had a chance to meet her wonderful personality and traits!
Chubbs would like nothing better than to find a forever home that she can call her own. She is looking to join a family that will appreciate her and give her a permanent/safe home. Won't you give this princess the love she deserves? If you are interested in adopting Chubbs, please fill out an online application right away. Don’t wait! ARWOB.org
